It’s been a long time since I penned words for the Climbers’ Club guide to Dorset deep water soloing (back when the summers were still hot!), in 1995. Time passed; I bought my first SLR, and I started the first of many work/portfolio trips. That first SLR was in 1999, and here in these web pages you’ll see the result of a decade of travel and climbing photography, along with my favourite working pastime - landscape imagery.
I’m now in my 20th year of climbing, and work mainly for Climber magazine, Rockfax (climbing guidebooks), and outdoor company Mountain Hardwear. I’ve also found something of a niche in ascending structures, and often for a worthy cause. I will confess this heady lifestyle was more by design than by accident! So the galleries in this website should take you through a kaleidoscope of places, colours and vistas, with the emphasis always on the gift of our precious wild places, along with our duty to preserve them. I hope you enjoy these pictures as much as I enjoyed taking them.
Some of my other work is available at the links below:
I owe a massive thanks to a lot of very supportive people; far too many to list here! But I do need to thank my friends and family for all their support with my photography and writing.
I’ve been very fortunate to work with Climber, Britain’s top climbing magazine. For additional information, please go to: climber.co.uk.
I work very closely with my good friend Libby Peter, a prolific North Wales mountain guide; find her at libbypeterclimbing.co.uk
I've shared many foreign adventures and photographic shoots with old pal Neil Gresham, who is the main man in the climbing Masterclass world; discover him at neilgresham.com
I’m indebted to Mountain Hardwear for their support these past few years. For the full range of their products, please visit: mountainhardwear.com
Please find the time to take a look at fleet street photographer Clare Kendall's thought-provoking work; photoshelter.com/c/clare
Plus a big thank you to the staff at Rockfax, my dedicated movie-makers Gav and Niki, Five Ten, Sony, the Climbers’ Club, Wild Country, Berghaus and Black Diamond: without you all, my life would be much less interesting!
